Pythian Games
The Pythian Games were one of the four Panhellenic games of Ancient Greece. They were held every four years at the Temple of Apollo in Delphi. The games were created around the 6th century BCE by Apollo after he killed Python (hints: the name) . They were somewhat like the Olympic Games except there were competitions in art and dance.
The winners did not receive prize money but instead they were given laurel wreath and apples as their reward. The competition schedule: Day 1: Religious ceremonies Day 2: A large banquet Day 3: Musical contests Day 4: Athletic contests Day 5: Horse race |
